Autoresponders

If You Have A Website, You Need A Mailing List

Do you have a business website? If so, you need to have a mailing list and a way for your website visitors to subscribe to that list. Let me say it again: YOU NEED A MAILING LIST.
Why do I feel so strongly about this subject? Because I want to see you succeed. I want you to make sales and get prospects to sign up under you. Every good business website has some sort of purpose. Do you want your visitor to buy a candle? Do you want a potential new Tupperware consultant to sign up under you? Do you want him or her to subscribe to your recipe mailer? All of these are examples of things you want a visitor to your site to do. The problem is, most of us aren’t comfortable doing much of anything the first time we come across a website. After all, the owner of the site is a complete stranger to us. On average, it takes a person being exposed 7 times to a product or service online before they buy. If you have a mailing list, your visitors on that list will be exposed to your business repeatedly, even though they aren’t actually visiting the site at the time. Material covered in your newsletter or ezine will draw them back and build trust in you as a resource.
Now that we have established why you need a mailing list, let’s take a look at how you would go about setting one up, getting people to subscribe to it, what content you will provide to them and how often you will contact them.
You may be tempted at first to just use your local mail client (like Outlook) to send out your mailing list. I strongly recommend staying away from this option unless you never see your mailing list growing above 50 people. If you email to many people at once, your web host may suspect that you are sending out spam email and will shut your email account down, at least temporarily. The other disadvantage is that you cannot automate the process of adding and removing people from your mailing list, and doing this manually can get very time consuming.
I suggest you invest in a solid mailing and autoresponder service. There are a few free options out there, but those will feature ads that will distract your customers from what’s important – YOUR product or service.
As far as a good autoresponder service goes, you have two different options. You can purchase an autoresponder script, or you can pay a monthly fee to have the service hosted. Here at www.wahmwannabe.com we have opted for a hosted service. Yes, there is a monthly expense as opposed to a one-time fee, but it is worth the time and hassle it saves us. We don’t have to upgrade the script or deal with any technical issues that may arise. When it comes to hosted autoresponders, we recommend aweber. Their service is very reasonable, features unlimited autorsponder and newsletter broadcasts and is very easy to use.
Once you have an autoresponder system in place, think about how people will be able to subscribe to your newsletter. The first thing you should do is add a signup form to every page of your website. If you use aweber, you can use their web form generator feature to create the form. The most effective places to add the form on your website are in the middle of the content or in the upper left-hand corner of your pages. For a full review, please go to http://www.wahmwannabe.com/newsletter/newsletter-subscription.htm
Next, I would suggest you create a separate page that talks about your newsletter. What are you going to send your subscribers each week or month? Will it be a product recommendation, some tips on how to use a particular product, articles of interest to your subscribers? Give them a reason why they should subscribe to your newsletter. As an additional incentive, you may even want to consider offering a freebie. This can be a special report you wrote, an ebook, etc.
For www.wahmwannabe.com, we created a motivational screensaver as a little freebie to our subscribers. Take a look at (insert link to newsletter signup page) to get a feel for an example newsletter signup page.
In addition to your site, add the link to your newsletter signup page to the signature of your email, to your signature line when you participate in message boards and in the byline of the articles you write. Soon you will start to see people signing up for your newsletter.
You want to stay in contact with your list by email at least once per month, preferably once per week. You don’t need to create an elaborate ezine each time. All you need is to write up a little note from you with an interesting tidbit of information and a link back to your website where they can find additional information. For example, if you are selling candles, email them a tip on effective candle burning, some safety tips, or even announce the newest scents available. If you read something interesting that relates to you business, mention it in your newsletter.
With a mailing list, you will have a way to stay in contact with your visitors and potential customers and can keep your product or service in front of them. And sooner or later, they may just buy. Good luck!

Autoresponders: 15 Creative and Profitable Ways to Use Autoresponders

An interested visitor who has been strolling through your site has finally come to just what she is looking for and is about to make a purchase. It’s a sunny afternoon, and her cat, who happens to be sitting on the moss under the visitor’s large fifty-year-old snow-rose bonsai tree, suddenly jumps down, and the priceless tree topples over.
In the blink of an eye, your visitor exits your site, and your sale is dust – unless you have had the foresight to utilize an autoresponder that has captured her email address. If you have installed an autoresponder, you can then follow-up with her, and in all probability, make the sale when the poor woman has finished repotting her precious bonsai.
Autoresponders are remarkable, versatile programs that do so much more than just automatically answer your email. Here are a few ideas that will help you to creatively and
productively use your autoresponder to transform the casual visitor into a profitable customer. Use your autoresponder to:
1. Publish a newsletter. Certain quality autoresponders will manage subscriptions and follow-up with interested prospects. Your newsletter can keep your visitors informed about your services or products, while building your reputation as a credible expert in your particular business.
2. Publish a newsletter only for your affiliates. Inform them of current sales you are running and of promotional material that your affiliates can use themselves to increase their commissions. Include tips, advice, and techniques that your affiliates can use to successfully go out and promote your business.
3. Write reviews. Cover books, software, music, e-books, movies, etc., and put each review in an autoresponder. Review your affiliate programs, using a link to your affiliate’s page in your autoresponder.
4. Distribute your articles. Writing and distributing targeted articles is a powerful tool to build your business credibility, bring traffic to your site, and increase your sales potential. If your articles contain valuable information, many editors will print what is known as a resource box for you. A resource box contains your bio and a brief description of your service or product. It can also contain your autoresponder address. Let’s say you’ve
written fifty articles. Put them on separate autoresponder accounts and create a master list that contains the titles of each article, the autoresponder address, and a brief abstract. Then promote your master list. Additionally, include your publishing guidelines so your affiliates can add their articles to your list, increasing the number of writers who are represented in your article list.
5. Create mailing lists. Inform subscribers to your articles when you’ve written new ones that they may want to publish in their own newsletter or website.
6. Automate your sales process. Use an ad to insure repeated exposure of your message, which has been proven to effectively increase sales. In your ad, put your autoresponder address where a visitor will be exposed to numerous marketing materials. This multiplies the chances
of converting visitors into customers. For example, if you’re selling a particular product, put testimonials about how spectacular it is on your autoresponder, and add a detailed, enticing description of your product.
7. Distribute advertising. Let’s say you sell advertising on your website or in your newsletter or e-zine. Set your autoresponder to send the information about rates and how to place an ad automatically to all prospects’ email addresses. Then have your autoresponder follow-up. It can also send notification of any special deals you are currently offering.
8. Distribute an email course. Each day, have your autoresponder send out another lesson. Just be sure that each lesson has quality content – not a sales pitch. Your content will do the selling for you, and will do it much more effectively. You can include tips centered on a different topic for each lesson, illustrating how your product will benefit the reader. Include the tangible benefits the visitor will reap by purchasing your product. Make sure to include a paragraph or two at the end of each lesson enticing your prospect to consider making a purchase.
9. Automate a reminder about your service or product after a visitor has completed your course. This will increase the possibility of sales from visitors who have taken your course but are dragging their feet about actually making a purchase. You can also use these reminders to promote new products or services, and the products and services of your affiliate programs.
10. Distribute free reports. This gives your visitor an idea of the type of information you can provide and the quality of your product or service. Make sure these reports are not sales letters or you will more than likely lose a potential customer than gain a sale.
11. Create trivia quizzes on your site and place the answers in an autoresponder. Your visitor will then be motivated to request your autoresponder, and you will have a record of the visitors’ email addresses who took your quiz. Or create a contest and have any visitors that enter send their responses to your autoresponder. Your autoresponder can be set-up to send them a confirmation of their entry.
12. Offer a trial version of your product. Give your prospects a sample of your ebook, course, software, membership, etc. People who are exposed to a little taste often end up wanting the whole pie. You can also capture their email addresses when you offer them a free trial from your website. Set up your autoresponder to give instructions on how to obtain their free trial, and then make sure to follow-up to try and close the sale.
13. Link to hidden pages on your autoresponder. For example, a hidden page could be your affiliate page that contains graphics, promotional articles, and text links that interested affiliates can make use of. Inform visitors that they may have free access to your affiliate page by simply requesting your autoresponder. You will then gather a list of visitors who may be interested in becoming your affiliates.
14. Use an autoresponder on your order page. Post a request form for visitors to be notified of special offers or discounts in the future. This creates a very effective mailing list that contains the names of people who are already your customers.
15. Put your links page on your autoresponder. It should contain up to fifty links that would be of particular interest to your visitors. Make sure to add your own promotional copy at the top or bottom of this page.
Now that you have proof that autoresponders can be used creatively, see if you can come up with some brilliant ideas of your own!

Autoresponders – Automatic Email Services Compared – Research Before You Buy

If you’re planning to purchase an automatic email responder service or software program – that’s good news! That means you have customers or plan to have customers and you want to organize your client base and provide an easy means to answering emails. It’s a good thing you are reading this article – because you can save yourself time and money. Don’t make the same mistakes I made – and the same mistakes a lot of others have made in purchasing the wrong autoresponder service. Fortunately you can learn from my experiences and choose the correct email autoresponder for your business. With so many choices, it can be overwhelming – so I will break it down by individual autoresponder programs. The ones I will expand on are several of the most popular autoresponder programs, services and software out today.
Before I delve into the topic further – I need to offer one important piece of advice. Don’t use a free autoresponder service. Yes it is a direct statement and you may want to go against my advice and try one for yourself. You can – go ahead. If it works out for you then that is good. But, through my personal trials, in using so many of the “best” free autoresponder programs, my sincere and serious advice is to avoid doing them at all costs. First, the features offered are very limited. And, what happened to me every single time I signed up with a free autoresponder service is that I ended up with a lot of junk mail. I kept receiving more spam from the autoresponder company and I found it very difficult to “unsubscribe” and cancel my free accounts. The other downfall, if that one isn’t bad enough – is that the autoresponder company usually places their own ads and promos in your emails. So instead of being able to promote yourself, your business and products to the utmost extent– you are promoting theirs.
Let’s say you are an eBay seller – and would like to completely automate the process of selling. If you are sick and tired of typing in “Thank You” notes and sending links to download products, then look no further. My Digital Dispatch is the way to go. It works specifically with PayPal payments. So, whether you are selling items on eBay or on a website and use PayPal as your main payment processor – you could save yourself time and money by using this software program. It’s easy to use, setup and maintain. It stores all of your client’s contact information, as well as the date of the sale and all of the details. To purchase it, there is only a one-time fee of $67.00. The price is unbeatable, considering most of the automatic email responder services out there today charge monthly fees and only allow limited number of messages. With this software you can create an Unlimited number of messages to send out. It also has a wonderful affiliate program which has a 50% payout. The affiliate link appears at the bottom of every automatic email that is sent out. If you don’t know what an affiliate program is, basically – it is when a company offers to pay you for any traffic that you deliver to their website which results in a purchase. So if someone clicks on the link in the automatic email you sent them, and they decide to sign up with My Digital Dispatch, you will receive about $33.00. This software is perfect for eBay sellers and PayPal merchants – but if you are more interested in creating subscriptions, newsletters, enzines, etc. then you will need a more advanced program.
If at all possible, my recommendation is to find a program that you can purchase through a one-time flat fee. Programs with monthly subscriptions always end up being more expensive in the long-run. They may have excellent features and services that can’t be beat, but it can be very costly. Then when you find an autoresponder program that you like better, it is extremely difficult to switch everything over and move your client information to the new program. So, you may need to spend a little in the beginning, but if you are serious about your business and you want to start it out right, then it is more than worth the investment. So, if you have an online business and you need a powerful feature-rich autoresponder program that allows you to: manage clients, create subscriber lists, send text and html newsletters and more – then Send Studio is the software program to use. The cost is a one-time flat fee of $239.00 and worth every penny. The installation is FREE and Send Studio is jam-packed with features which are easy-to-use, yet more advanced than any other service that I have tried. It also offers you the ability to re-brand the software through a simple template. Then you can allow your clients to login and create their own email marketing campaigns on their own domains. Just “create a new user” so your client can run his or her marketing campaign, rather than needing to purchase the software for each person. With a single website license purchase, you are allowed 5 different users with access.
There are several other Top-of-the-Line autoresponder programs I recommend, but they charge per-month. They are also feature-rich and easy to operate. Autoresponders Are a Publishers Best Friend

How many times have you subscribed to a new ezine, and then
when the first issue of the ezine arrived, you were scratching
your head as to how your email address ended up on the list?
Our lives are often so tedious that little details often slip
right from our memory.
The point is this. If it happens to you, you can rest assured
that others have the same experience as well.
Sometimes when this happens to us, we just unsubscribe from the
list after that first issue. We cannot remember what compelled
us to subscribe in the first place, and the first issue of the
ezine does little to rekindle our initial enthusiasm for the
ezine.
As publishers, autoresponders can serve us well. When used
correctly, autoresponders can strike while the iron is hot,
cementing the subscription for the new subscriber.
If your ezine has been around for a while, or only for a
few issues, seriously consider taking the time to compile
a *Best Of* issue.
Be certain to list subscription instructions near the top of
your *Best Of* issue, and also ask people to forward it to
their friends.
Your *Best Of* issue should be placed into an autoresponder
email address, and then given away at every opportunity. The
moment the issue is ready, you can notify your subscribers of
the existence of the issue. In the ezine information area of
each issue, you can also remind subscribers that the *Best Of*
is available at such-and-such email address. Ironically, some
of your subscribers will download your *Best Of* several times.
The most important reason for building the *Best Of* issue is
not for the benefit of your current subscribers, though most
of them will appreciate your making it available to them. The
best reason to implement the *Best Of* autoresponder is for
your new subscribers!
When someone subscribes to your ezine, they will receive their
*Welcome to My Ezine* notice. As they are reading the *Welcome*
message, their enthusiasm is bubbling over. Waiting for that
first issue will be tough unless there is an invitation to
receive their first issue NOW.
In your *Welcome* message, you should let them know that if
they would like to get started right away reading your ezine,
then they should send a blank email to your autoresponder
address for the *Best Of* issue.
New subscribers will gorge themselves on your *Best Of* issue,
and they will remember your ezine when the first new issue
arrives in their mailbox. If the *Best Of* issue was precisely
what they were looking for, you can rest assured that they will
eagerly open each subsequent issue of your ezine, with delight
in their hearts.
If you do not have the ability to set up autoresponders on your
own domain, one company that offers a free autoresponder service
is: http://sendfree.com/
If you take the time now to implement the *Best Of*
autoresponder, the rewards will most certainly be long-lasting.
Remember, the best time to get a new subscriber to fall in love
with your ezine is when their interest is the highest — at
the very moment they subscribe to your ezine.

Over the years, I have received many questions about autoresponders and have devised a list of the most frequently asked autoresponder questions.
Question: I’m new to Internet marketing and am continually hearing about the benefits of using an autoresponder. Can you please explain exactly what an autoresponder is?
Answer: Autoresponders are one of the top promotional tools available online today. They are also known as automatic responders, mailbots, automatic email and email on demand. Autoresponder programs vary from software set up to run with your desktop email program and automatically answer your incoming email to a script that runs on your server. The script may run a Web-based autoresponder system that utilizes a web page form, or it may run with your pop email account on your server. It is programmed to automatically send out a predetermined message when a message is received to a specified script address or email address.
Question: My hosting company provides access to autoresponders, but I have no idea what they’re used for. Can you please explain?

These follow up messages can be set up to automatically be sent out at predetermined intervals. In other words, you can set up your autoresponder to automatically send out a new message each day for as many days as you would like.
Not all autoresponders will enable you to create follow-up messages. However, the following service will:

http://www.getresponse.com/

If you’d rather have your own autoresponder system that resides on your server, I recommend using AutoResponse Plus.
The first step in creating an autoresponder course is to decide upon a subject. Your course should focus on a subject in which you have a great deal of knowledge and target your potential customers.
Once you have selected your subject, you’ll need to make a list of topics. Each topic will represent one lesson. If you have five topics, then you can offer your visitors a free 5-day course. If you have ten topics, then you can offer your visitors a free 10-day course and so on.
Separate each of your topics into course lessons. Your first lesson should welcome your subscriber to your course and explain a little bit about what they are going to learn, followed by the first lesson.
The key to creating a successful autoresponder course is to provide quality information that will be of interest to your target audience. Each daily topic must contain valuable information or your reader may decide to unsubscribe. In addition, make sure you include information in regard to your course such as the lesson number, lesson title, information about your products or services and highlights of the next lesson.
Your course should identify a problem, provide advice in regard to solving the problem and provide the solution with your products or services. Keep in mind, your course should not be written like a sales letter. It must provide quality information written to teach and inform.
Autoresponders are an absolute essential part of developing a successful Internet business. The more you can automate your tasks, the more time you’ll have for more important things, such as making more sales.

Autoresponder Etiquette

Autoresponders are one of the most widely used promotional tools on the Internet. They’re also known as mailbots, automatic email and email on demand. They were derived from the very popular fax on demand and designed to automatically respond to any email message sent to it with an automatic response.
Autoresponder programs vary from autoresponse messages set-up within an email program to a script that runs on a server. This script may run a web-based autoresponder system that utilizes a web page form or it may run with a pop email account on a server. It’s programmed to automatically send out a pre- determined message when a message is received to a specified script address or email address.
Not only are autoresponders one of the most widely used promotional tools, but are becoming one of the most widely abused. While using autoresponders will enable you to put a lot of your daily tasks on autopilot, autoresponders can also wreak havoc on innocent individuals who may cross their path.
Autoresponder addresses should NEVER be used when submitting your website to Search Engines, Directories, Free For All sites, or in Classified Ad contact forms. Many of these types of websites use autoresponders to send thank you or welcome messages to their users. When their autoresponder sends a message to your autoresponder, this creates what is known as a loop. Each autoresponder will continue to respond to the other.
When subscribing to an ezine or email discussion group, always use a real email address and NEVER subscribe with an autoresponder address. Subscribing to these types of publications with an autoresponder address will get you immediately unsubscribed. Why? For example; If you’re a member of a discussion group and receive many messages each day, your autoresponder will respond to every message it receives. Not only will the list owner receive a mailbox full of complaints, but they will also receive all of your autoresponse messages.
Another problem ezine publishers encounter with autoresponder subscribers is locating the perpetrator. Many times, the “reply to” and “from” address of an autoresponse message aren’t the same as the address they subscribed under. It takes a great deal of time and effort to track the address, which is time that could have been better spent elsewhere.
Another unethical use of autoresponders is autoresponders. Let me explain… There are many Internet Marketers now using unethical techniques to subscribe innocent individuals to their junk mailing lists. They will send a message to an autoresponder address using their subscription address. When the autoresponder answers the message, the “from” address on the autoresponder will be instantly subscribed. This technique is not only unethical, but also unprofessional.
Autoresponders can be a wonderful tool for Internet Marketers and can save you hours of valuable time. However, if not used in a professional manner, can wreak havoc on the Internet community. Don’t be tempted to tarnish your professional reputation by indulging in the abuse of our autoresponder system. It’s just not worth the price.

Internet Marketing Tools: Part Eight Autoresponder Basics

Autoresponders are one of the most widely used promotional tools on the Internet. They’re also known as mailbots, automatic email and email on demand. They were derived from the very popular fax on demand and designed to automatically respond to any email message received with an automatic response.
Autoresponder programs vary from autoresponse messages set-up within an email program to a script that runs on a server. This script may run a web-based autoresponder system that utilizes a web page form or it may run with a pop email account on a server.
Autoresponders can assist you in automating many of your daily tasks including:
Customer Follow-up
Following up with your customers is an important part of providing good customer service. Not only is it an essential part of developing a good relationship, but it will also enable you to introduce new products.
Although sending out a personal message to each of your customers may not be possible, an autoresponder can provide them with the illusion that your message was personally sent.
Order Confirmations
If you’re processing orders online, manually sending each of your customers an order confirmation can be very time consuming. By creating a standard letter and placing it within an autoresponder that allows personalization, you can eliminate the need to manually respond — while at the same time, provide good customer service.
Articles for Publication
Writing articles and allowing them to be freely published, with your bylines, is a highly effective promotional strategy.
If you would like to enable your visitors to have access to your articles around the clock, place them within an autoresponder. This will enable your visitors to send an email to a specified email address and instantly receive your article.
Autoresponder Courses
In addition to the standard autoresponder systems, there are also autoresponders that can send an unlimited number of follow-up messages. These follow-up messages can be automatically sent out at predetermined intervals. In other words, you can set up your autoresponder to automatically send out a new message each day for as many days as you would like.
This powerful technology is currently being used by some of the top online marketers to reach thousands of potential customers. As you may know, it may take up to seven contacts with a potential customer before closing a sale. By setting up an autoresponder and offering a free autoresponder course, you can completely automate a portion of your marketing efforts.
Selecting a quality autoresponder service:
When selecting an autoresponder service, there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration to ensure maximum performance:
• Personalized responses – Gives the recipient the illusion that your message was sent specifically to them.
• Automatic follow-ups – Studies have shown it may take up to seven contacts before closing a sale.
• Unlimited text length – If you are inhibited by the amount of text your autoresponder may contain, you may be forced to revise a successful sales letter, ultimately costing you business.
• Free Unlimited updating – You must have the ability to update your autoresponders.
• Automatic Notification – You must have the ability to track your ad’s performance. You should be instantly informed each time someone requests your information.
Although many web hosts provide their clients with one-time autoresponders, if you’re planning on sending out follow-up messages, you’ll want to use a more advanced autoresponder.
GetResponse
An advanced autoresponder system that will enable you to not only personalize your messages, but it will also enable you to send an unlimited number of follow-ups.

Statistics and graphs
If you’d rather have your own autoresponder system that resides on your server, I recommend using AutoResponse Plus.
Autoresponders are one of the most widely used marketing tools on the Internet. Although they can’t completely automate your business, they can certainly save you hours of valuable time, and increase your profits considerably.
